AI product translation
AI-translated names, descriptions, and SEO text—for one product in the editor or thousands from the list, by default only where a translation is missing.
AI translates product text: name, short description, description (HTML stays untouched; only visible text is translated), and SEO (meta title and meta description). It works in two ways: for many products from the list or for one product in the editor.
Many products—from the product list
- Select products (or Select all, which translates every product matching the filters, not only the visible page).
- In the selection bar, open AI → Translate.
- Set:
- Translate from—source language. By default, this is the product catalog's default language; for it, the product name is the source name.
- Into—target languages. Click to select one; Ctrl/Cmd+click adds another; the menu has All languages. Only languages in that product's catalog are translated; other languages are skipped.
- Fields—name, short description, description, SEO.
- Only missing translations (default)—a field that already has text in that language is left unchanged. Overwrite existing translations replaces the text and requires confirmation.
- Below the settings, see the estimated cost and number of texts to translate (and how many are already translated). The estimate uses your company's previous translations; if there are none yet, it is approximate.
- Translate starts the job in the background. The window shows live progress: completed count, current product, translated and skipped counts, errors, and cost. Stop interrupts the job; translations already completed are saved.
- At the end, a summary shows N translated, M skipped, and errors.
Translations go straight to the products (translations tab). Empty fields in other languages and fields you did not select remain untouched.
One product—in the editor
The language icon beside product translations opens the same settings. Target languages are suggested automatically: those selected in the editor, or, if none, the missing languages. Translated text fills the editor fields but is not saved—review it and click Save (or undo the changes).
“Only missing” compares against saved translations; unsaved editor changes are not considered.
Remembered settings
The window remembers the last settings used (source language, target languages, fields, and mode)—separately for each user and company.
Cost
Every AI call is counted under Integrations → AI usage (context product_translate). One product in one language is one call, regardless of the number of fields.
