Bulk price changes
Five calculation modes, a preview before saving, and background processing for large selections.
Start a bulk price change from the action bar after selecting products in the list.
Step by step
- Open Products—directly below the Catalog section heading, not inside the group of the same name.
- In the filter bar, select a Price group. That is the group to be changed; the price window does not ask for it, it only displays it. Without a selected group, the action will not open and the system shows the English message: Please select a price group first.
- Select products (Bulk actions on products).
- Click Prices in the selection bar.
- Check the blue Price group: box at the top of the Bulk price update window; it must show the group you want to change.
- Choose a mode: Increase by %, Decrease by %, Increase by fixed amount, Decrease by fixed amount, or Set fixed price. Increase by % is selected by default.
- Enter a number in the field below the modes. Its name changes with the mode: Percentage, Amount, or New price.
- Under Application mode, leave Preview first selected or switch to Apply automatically. When 500 or more products are selected, the system automatically selects Apply automatically; switch back if you want to inspect the result.
- Click Apply.
- In preview mode, Price change preview shows the operation, value, product count, and before-and-after prices. Confirm with Confirm and apply changes; Cancel exits without saving.
- For a large selection, the window becomes Price update in progress, with a progress bar, then reports how many prices were changed, created, and skipped. You can close the window; the rest runs in the background.
Calculation modes
| Mode | Action |
|---|---|
| Set fixed price | Every selected product gets the same price |
| Increase by % | Each current price rises by the specified percentage |
| Decrease by % | Each current price falls by the specified percentage |
| Increase by fixed amount | Add a fixed amount to each current price |
| Decrease by fixed amount | Subtract a fixed amount from each current price |
The last four calculate from each product's current price, so every product gets a different new price. Only the first mode sets everyone to one value.
A price group is required
A product can have different prices in different price groups, so the operation must know which group to change. Select it in the list's filter bar, not in the price window; the window only displays it in Price group:. Without a selected group, the window will not open.
Preview before saving
Preview first calculates new prices and shows them beside the current ones before anything is saved. For a percentage change, this is the only time to see the effect on individual products—use it, especially when all matching filter results are selected.
Apply automatically saves without this step. It turns on automatically when you select 500 or more products.
Large selections run in the background
For many products, the window warns that the operation will take time and gives an estimate. The change then runs in the background; you can close the window and track progress in Background tasks. When complete, the list highlights changed rows.
Variant grouping mode
When the list is grouped by variants, the window shows a yellow Variant grouping active notice: “Price changes will be applied to all variants of selected products.” Selection then applies to groups, and the price change covers every product in the selected groups, not just visible headers. To change prices for selected individual products, switch the list to flat view.
