Before packing starts — four conditions
What must be true for scanning a container to open a session, and what each refusal means.
Packing starts with one action: scan the container in front of you. For that scan to open a session, all four conditions must be met at the same time.
| Condition | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| You are at a packing location | The terminal must be switched to a station designated for packing, not just any location. |
| The scanned code is for a mobile container | A basket, cart shelf, or cart—not a rack or pallet location. |
| The container is at the packing station | It has completed the transport step. A basket left in an aisle is not here yet. |
| The container has items to pack | Items of type “packing” with a nonzero quantity. |
If any condition is not met, the session does not start—you remain on the station screen with a message.
Step by step: open a session
- Enter packing mode: tap the mode name in the kiosk's top bar, then choose the Packing tile in the Change function window.
- Check where you are. The kiosk shows the station name below the mode name. If the terminal is at another location, scan the packing-station code; the kiosk switches to it and stays on the station screen.
- If NO PRINTER AT THIS STATION appears at the top, move to a station with a printer. The label will still be purchased from the carrier, but it will not print here.
- If you see a Resume packing tile with an order number, there is an unfinished session here. Do not scan a new basket—tap the tile or scan the basket it names, and the kiosk restores the session. Scanning another container responds: “Finish order #N first—scan basket …”.
- If the kiosk says “You are at R09-39-01 — this is not a packing station”, your account is at another location (usually after scanning a shelf on another device). Scan the packing-station code; the session returns to the same place.
- Choose a container from Baskets at station. Each tile shows its code, number of units, and number of orders; Show all (+n) expands the rest of the list.
- Scan the container code. The banner now says Scan basket, and the hint below the list reads “Scan a basket to start packing.”
- The screen changes to a packing session—from now on, scan EANs. If you get a message instead, read it below, correct the cause, and scan again.
- A Carrier fulfillment bar appears at the top of the session, in the carrier's color (set in the delivery-method mapping or, if absent there, on the carrier) and with its logo if the system knows it. You can recognize the carrier by color without reading its name. If the kiosk did not identify the carrier, there is no bar. If you select another carrier tile during the process, the bar switches to its name, color, and logo.
What a refusal means
“Basket is empty”—the container has no orders to pack. Either everything has already been packed or its contents went somewhere else.
Location KOD is not a mobile basket—you scanned a fixed location. Check that it is the basket code, not a rack-shelf code. This one message is displayed in English; there is no Polish translation for it, so the kiosk displays the server's text directly.
“Basket is not at the packing station.”—the container has not completed the transport step. Someone needs to bring it here and register it, or you can do that yourself in transport mode.
If the basket is already in front of you, one scan is enough: enter transport mode and scan the basket code while standing at the station. The basket is issued immediately—you do not need to take it for yourself first and issue it afterward. This also applies to a basket nobody is carrying: one that sorting added to after packing closed its previous order. Previously, such a basket belonged to nobody and could not be issued at all.
The only exception is a basket someone else is carrying. This scan does not take it away from them—it follows the regular handoff process.
The whole basket-transport step is described in Transport baskets to packing.
“Scanned a cart, not a basket.”—see the container article: a shelf cart is mobile, so it would pass the remaining checks and open an empty session. Scan a specific shelf.
“Finish order #N first—scan basket K04.”—another unfinished order is waiting at your station, and the basket you scanned does not contain it. Scan the indicated basket or tap Resume packing, finish (or suspend) that order, and only then take another basket. Scanning the basket for the waiting order is not refused—it resumes that order.
“Packing for this order is already in progress.”—someone else started it; see the article about a container at another station.
“Order cancelled—put the product away at a consolidation location.”—this item is no longer in the order. The message gives the location code where you should put it. A similar case is “Excess product (quantity reduced)—put away at a consolidation location.”, when someone reduced the order quantity.
“Excess—no order needs this (N units). Leave it here.”—this unit is excess in your basket (or at the station). Do not pack it; leave it here. The system can see it in this basket (or at the station), and someone using the Excess board in Move mode will put it back on a shelf. Picking does not add excess to the basket: this unit arrived there before someone reduced the order quantity.
