Three flows — what to expect after scanning a basket
SINGLE, MULTI, and a basket containing only single-item orders. The system detects the flow; you do not choose it.
After you scan a container, the screen looks different depending on what is inside it. The system recognizes the flow from the contents; there is no switch to choose it.
Step by step
Single-item order
- After scanning the basket, the banner says Scan EAN, with the product's EAN and name below it.
- The screen content has one row: name, EAN, and
×1. There is no section heading—this is the quickest way to recognize this flow. - Scan the EAN. Confirmation: a short, high-pitched beep and a green Scanned banner with the EAN and product name.
- A rising three-tone chime sounds, and the banner changes to amber Scan shipping label.
- Press Generate label, then scan the label. Scanning the label without generating it first produces Generate label first—see Scanning the shipping label completes the order.
Multi-item order
- The banner says Scan EAN, with Remaining n and the code of the container you are packing from below it (basket K04, or, for a cart shelf, shelf PW-2 · cart WZ-03).
- The screen content has a To pack heading and one row per EAN, with
×quantityon the right. - Scan the items in turn. Each scanned item moves to the collapsible Packed section (note: the heading says “Packed,” not “Scanned”). Beside it is only the number of scanned rows, with no slash or “out of how many.”
- An item above the bulk threshold shows a calculator button labeled Quantity calculator—see Quantity calculator — when scanning asks “how many?”.
- Read progress in the bottom bar: the Packed, Remaining, and Packages tiles.
- Close a package in progress with Close package. Confirmation: the Package closed banner, with Package n below it.
- When Remaining reaches zero, the banner changes to Scan shipping label.
Basket of single-item orders only
- The banner says Scan EAN, but the row below it shows the basket code, with n orders underneath. This is the only flow where the banner shows a basket instead of a product.
- In the screen header, beside the mode name, a progress counter ticks in the packed/total format—digits only, without a label. This appears only here too.
- The screen content has a To pack heading, and the order rows show the product name, EAN, and
#order numberon the right. - Scan the EAN. The green Scanned banner shows the EAN, with the name and
#numberbelow it. - Complete the order with its label and a label scan. After the scan is confirmed, the rising three-tone chime sounds, the order row dims, the header counter advances, and the banner returns to Scan EAN. Do not scan the basket again.
- Repeat until the final order is done. Only then does the green Packed banner appear with
#number. After ten seconds, the screen returns to Scan basket.
One order: single-item or multi-item
| Order contents | Type |
|---|---|
| 1 product × 1 unit, not a bundle | single-item |
| 1 product × 2 or more units | multi-item |
| 2 or more different products | multi-item |
| Anything containing a bundle | multi-item |
This is the most common misunderstanding: an order for one product in two units is multi-item, as is a single bundle. “Single-item” means exactly one unit of one product.
The type is calculated once, when the queue is synchronized, and saved on the order. The same rule applies to a basket and a cart shelf—there is no situation where the same order behaves differently depending on how it arrived.
What you see on screen
| Flow | Screen | End |
|---|---|---|
| Single-item | one product: name and EAN | scan EAN → shipping label |
| Multi-item | list of items with quantities; scanned items move to “Packed” | all items → label |
| Basket of single-item orders only | order list with “packed / total” counter | EAN → label loop until the last order |
Sounds when scanning a product
The sound tells you what is wrong before you read the banner:
| Sound | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| short, high-pitched beep | good product | keep scanning |
| two long, low buzzes | this product is not in the order | set it aside—it is not part of this parcel |
| four quick ticks | the product is in the order, but this unit is extra | set the extra unit aside |
| three descending tones | another error | read the reason on the banner |
A basket containing only single-item orders is fastest: scan the EAN, the label prints, and the kiosk moves to the next order without scanning the basket again.
A mixed basket should not happen
If a basket contains a multi-item order together with other orders, the kiosk handles only the first and tells you directly: throughout packing for that order, a red warning above the list reads WARNING: MIXED BASKET — select the correct products. Take only the items shown on screen. The warning does not block anything or notify anyone. It is not a packing restriction but an indication of an earlier process error—a multi-item order should go in its own container, so look for the cause in sorting or picking.
The other orders are not lost. After packing the first one, scan the basket again to take the next. Items from fully packed orders are detached from the basket, so each scan picks up the next order in the queue.
