Keyboard shortcuts — what works and where
Ctrl+K opens global search everywhere. Other shortcuts belong to lists and are suppressed while you type or scan.
Shortcut that works everywhere
Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on Mac) opens global search, regardless of the screen you are on (Global search).
This is the only shortcut reserved at the application level. Individual screens cannot capture it.
List shortcuts
These work on any list that uses the shared toolbar (How lists work throughout the system):
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
/ or Q | Move focus to search |
F | Filter panel |
R | Refresh list |
← → | Previous and next page |
Esc | Clear search |
Ctrl+A | Select all — only where selection is available |
? | Shortcut legend |
A shortcut works only when the screen actually has that feature. A list without filters will not respond to F; a list without selection will not capture Ctrl+A. This is deliberate — otherwise a key would be “eaten” with no effect.
The reverse also happens: the Issues list has selection, but Ctrl+A does not work there — the screen did not register that feature with the shared set. Select with the mouse instead.
That is why on an unfamiliar screen, start with the legend under ?: it shows only the shortcuts that work there. The table above is the general rule; the legend shows the actual state.
Three screens have their own set
Orders, Products, and Returns do not use the shared toolbar; they handle keys themselves. As a result, some shortcuts from the table do not work there, while others are added.
| Screen | Shortcuts |
|---|---|
| Orders — list | Q, F, Ctrl+Shift+F, ← → (pages) |
| Orders — details | ← → (next order), Esc, R, T, C, E, S, Alt+1–Alt+4 (Order details — small actions you might miss) |
| Products | Q, F, R — only on the list tab (Product list — inline editing and quick actions) |
| Returns — list | Q, F, Ctrl+Shift+F; ← → and Esc only when a return is open |
| Returns — side panel | Alt+1–Alt+4 — scan, list, put-away, tracking |
On Returns, R and ? do not work, and there is no legend button — this screen deliberately disabled the shared set.
Shortcuts in detail panels
On the Issues list, when the side panel is open, these also work:
JandK— previous and next issue without closing the panel,R— resolve or reopen,Esc— close the panel.
(Handling an issue — the side panel)
When shortcuts do nothing
Three situations, all intentional:
- You are typing in a text field. The letter
rin a customer’s name should be a letter, not a refresh command. - A dialog or menu is open. Shortcuts for the list underneath do not capture keys.
- A terminal scan is in progress. A barcode scanner “types” its contents as regular key presses — if shortcuts worked, they would corrupt the scanned code (What the terminal accepts when scanning).
The terminal has its own keys
The warehouse kiosk has a separate set — function keys F1–F7 (F1–F7 keys and the settings drawer). Do not mix the two sets: the terminal is designed for scanner and function-key use; office lists are designed for keyboard and mouse.
