A menu item is missing
The menu shows only what you are allowed to access — and hides entire groups when they contain nothing visible.
The menu is not the same for everyone. Every item is linked to a module and a required permission — without it, the item is not displayed at all. It is not grayed out or hidden behind a message; it simply is not there.
That is why two people looking at the same system see different menus, and why “click Catalog → Attributes” may be useless to someone without permission for the products module.
Step by step
- Check which company is active. Click the avatar in the top-right corner → My profile → My companies tab. Permissions are evaluated against the active company, so switching companies may bring back the item you are looking for (My companies — active company and switching context).
- Write down the exact name of the item you are looking for — as it appears in your colleague’s menu. An administrator assigns permissions by module name, not by a screen description.
- Check whether the entire group disappeared. A group appears only when at least one item inside it is visible.
- Do not try to type the address manually — access to the route is checked just like menu visibility, and you will be redirected.
- Contact your company administrator. Give them the item name from step 2, the company name from step 1, and what you need to do in the module (read only or edit as well).
- The administrator grants access under Configuration → Team and access → Roles and permissions (Creating and editing a role — the two-tab window).
- After access is granted, refresh the page and wait briefly. Permission changes can take up to five minutes; logging out and back in speeds this up (“Why can’t they see it?” — diagnosing permissions).
An entire group can disappear
A menu group (for example, Integrations with its subitems) appears only when at least one item inside it is visible. Losing permission to the last subitem removes the whole group heading — it can look as though “part of the menu disappeared,” even though only one permission changed.
Typing the address will not help
Entering an address manually does not bypass permissions — access to the route is checked just like menu visibility. Without permission, you will be redirected instead of being shown an empty page.
What to do
A company administrator grants permissions under Configuration → Team and access → Roles and permissions. This is the only place to set both module access and detailed field permissions. Ask the administrator for a role that can access the specific module, and include the name of the menu item you are looking for.
Check the company too
If you work with several companies, your permissions may differ between them. Before reporting missing access, check which company is active — switching companies may bring back the item you need.
