The scan is rejected — what each message means
The most common rejection gives the location where the product actually is. Read it before you start searching.
| Situation | What you see and what to do |
|---|---|
| The product is in the queue but at another location | Rejection with the location shown — go there and scan it there |
| The product is physically here but not in the queue | Rejection without a hint — no one ordered it for now |
| The product has already been fully picked | Rejection — you have it with you or someone else picked it |
| You are not at a picking location | The terminal asks you to change location |
| You do not have access to any queue | Rejection — a shift lead must assign you to a queue |
| The location is under stocktaking | Rejection with the task number — the shelf is frozen until the count ends |
| The shelf belongs to another warehouse or has been retired | The scan will not find it — the terminal will treat the code as a shipment number |
Step by step
- Kiosk
/wms2, Picking module. The banner says GO TO and shows a location code. - Go there and scan the shelf code. The banner turns yellow: CORRECT LOCATION or PICK HERE, and the large field shows the EAN you should scan now.
- Scan the product EAN. A green PICKED banner with the product name confirms the pick, and a voice reads the number of units.
- The scan fails — a red banner appears. Read all of it. Codes after the
→may be the locations where this product is actually waiting. - Match the message and follow the instruction beside it:
| Banner message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Product is not in the picking queue for this location → A-01-02, A-03-01 | Go to one of the listed codes and scan the EAN there. |
| Product is not in the picking queue for this location (no codes) | No one is ordering this product now or it has already been fully picked. Put it back and continue scanning. |
| Current location is not a picking location (in English, straight from the server) | You are not at a picking location. Scan the correct shelf code. |
| No queues available. Worker has no queue access. (in English) | You have no queue. Tell a shift lead — they assign queues. |
| Location blocked — stocktaking in progress | The shelf is being counted and is frozen. Pick from another one or wait until the count ends. |
| Yellow SCAN SUBLOCATION with codes | The item is in a carton or on a pallet under this rack. Scan the listed sublocation code, not the rack code. |
- There are fewer items on the shelf than the system shows — tap Report shortage. The button is below the product list and appears only when you are at a picking location; the same option is also in the location menu.
- The dialog asks Mark location for checking? and shows the shelf code. Confirm with Yes. The banner replies MARKED FOR CHECKING, and the route recalculates automatically.
- To first see what the rack contains, hold the mode-name bar in the header (or tap ⋮ to its right) and select Location contents.
A rejection with a location is a hint, not an error
The first row deserves special attention: when the product is in the queue but assigned to another shelf, the system tells you which one. You do not need to search the warehouse or ask anyone — the answer is in the message.
This can happen when the same item is in several places and the queue has a specific shelf planned. Scanning the correct one keeps the route in order.
Shelf scans work only in your warehouse
A shelf code is unique within a warehouse, not across the whole company. The same name, for example A0-D17-01, can therefore identify two different shelves: one in MAG, another in Defects — especially if both warehouses are in the same building and adopted the same naming scheme.
That is why the terminal searches for a scanned code only in the warehouse you selected — and only among active shelves. A shelf removed from the floor will not be found, even if its code still exists in the database (it remains there so the movement history is not lost).
In practice:
- Check the selected warehouse before scanning. If it is the wrong warehouse, your shelves are invisible to the terminal, and scanning a shelf code will do nothing.
- After changing warehouses, the terminal forgets where you are standing. This is intentional: the previous shelf belonged to the previous warehouse. Scan the shelf code again in the new warehouse.
- You cannot enter another warehouse’s shelf. The terminal will refuse instead of silently placing you in another hall.
Report a discrepancy instead of guessing
If the shelf does not contain as many items as the system shows, do not try to work around the line. Press Report shortage and confirm — you do not enter a unit count; you identify the shelf (The shelf has fewer items than the system shows). The terminal recalculates the route and continues, and the location is marked for checking.
