Dropping items at sorting — what happens to the goods
One action removes everything you are carrying at once. What happens next depends on the queue mode — and you must not mix two queue types.
You drop off items while standing at the drop-off point — a sorting location or a basket, depending on the queue. One action removes everything you picked; you do not put items down one at a time.
Step by step
- Pick as usual. The collapsible Carried by you tile shows what you have (summary: N units · M SKUs) and the picked counter appears on the bottom bar.
- When you finish picking, go where the Next tile directs you.
- Scan the drop-off location code. In a standard queue, this is a sorting location; in a queue with automatic or skipped sorting, it is a basket. This scan selects the drop-off destination; the button does not ask anything else. Instead of scanning, you can press and hold the tile with the destination code for one second.
- Wait for the yellow CORRECT LOCATION banner with the location code and the label Put down picked items. A red LOCATION OFF ROUTE and GO TO … mean you are somewhere else.
- Press Put down — in an auto-sorting queue, the button is called Put in cart. The number of units you are carrying appears in parentheses. There is no confirmation dialog; one press does everything, and clicking again will not duplicate anything.
- Check the green DROPPED OFF banner with the destination location code. The Carried by you tile disappears and the picked counter returns to zero — this confirms the drop-off succeeded.
- Continue scanning. The terminal announces the next location automatically; when there is nothing left to pick, it shows Everything picked.
The Put down button appears only when you are at the correct place — elsewhere it is simply absent. Exception: in a queue with sorting skipped, the button is visible everywhere, but a drop-off outside a basket will still be rejected.
What happens next depends on the queue mode
| Queue mode | Where the goods go | What else happens |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | to a sorting location | waits for manual sorting |
| Automatic sorting | into a basket | the sorting item is completed immediately |
| Sorting skipped | into a basket | the item is completed immediately; when transport is skipped, the basket also becomes the packing location |
In the last two cases, the drop-off is the sorting step — there is no separate stage and nothing to look for on the sorting screen.
Do not mix queues in one drop-off
A drop-off containing items from both a standard and an automatic queue is rejected. This is not arbitrary: those queues finish at completely different places — one at a sorting station and the other in a basket — so a single action cannot do both.
In practice, pick items from queues with the same sorting mode before one drop-off.
Items from cancelled orders
If an order is cancelled while you are picking, the goods you have already picked do not stay with you. The drop-off puts them at the queue’s bulk location — the same place where sorting surplus goes.
You do not need to report anything or go anywhere separately; the drop-off handles it with the rest.
Units no one needs any more (surplus)
If someone reduced the order quantity after you picked the goods, the unneeded units are also removed from you at drop-off at sorting — they remain there as surplus. The DROPPED OFF banner then adds “N surplus units left here. They are on the ‘Surplus’ board in Moving.” You do nothing else — someone in Moving will return them to a shelf.
Exception: a basket (cart) and an internal-queue pallet cannot accept surplus. The basket goes to packing, and a basket with surplus cannot later be released. Drop regular units into the basket as usual; the banner says “You still have N surplus units. Put them at the sorting station — not in the basket.” They will be removed from you on your next drop-off at the sorting station.
Picking item statuses do not change
Drop-off moves the goods, but the picking items were already completed when scanned at the shelf. That is why you will not see the picking counter change during drop-off — it changed earlier.
