The shelf has fewer items than the system shows
Report the shelf instead of skipping the item. The route recalculates immediately and the location is flagged for checking — no quantity is entered.
You report the shelf, not a quantity. The kiosk only asks “Mark location for checking?”, sends the location code, and that is all — there is no field for units and no one expects you to count them at the rack. Counting is part of stocktaking, which is initiated by this report.
How to report a discrepancy
- Stand by the shelf you are reporting. The report button appears only when the kiosk detects you at a picking location.
- Before reporting, you can compare the shelf with the system: hold the Current tile (or the header with the location code), choose Location contents, and see what the system records there.
- Press ⋮ (three dots in the top-right corner) or hold the Current tile, then select Report shortage (the red item in the menu). This also works in cart picking and in the Info panel.
- In the Mark location for checking? dialog, read the displayed location code — that is what will be reported — and press Yes. No closes the dialog without doing anything.
- Wait for the MARKED FOR CHECKING banner with the location code. Without it, the report was not sent and you need to repeat step 3.
- Continue scanning. The kiosk fetches a new route and points to the next location automatically — you do not need to reset anything or exit the mode.
Why this is better than skipping
A skipped item leaves no trace: no one knows whether the goods were missing, the operator overlooked them, or they were at another shelf. A report is an observation with a date, author, and location code — and it triggers a shelf check.
The report does not change stock levels. Only stocktaking corrects stock, after the office makes a decision. Your role ends with identifying the shelf.
What happens next
- The picking route recalculates — you do not remain at an empty shelf; the terminal guides you onward.
- The shelf may be flagged for checking, and the system will not issue goods from a flagged shelf until the case is closed.
- If an automation rule is enabled, the flag creates a stocktaking task for that location.
What not to do
Do not “top up” from a neighbouring shelf just to make the order quantity match. Stock will then be wrong in two places instead of one, and the report that would have caught the problem will never be created.
