Creating a new company
You need three fields and the roles permission. The new company is inactive for its creator; you have to switch to it.
Step by step
- Go to Configuration → Team and access → My companies. The Companies, branches, and warehouses screen opens with three tables; the top one is Companies.
- Click Add company. An Add company panel opens on the right.
- Fill in the three required fields: Full name, Short name, and Symbol.
- Click Create.
- If a window asks for a 2FA code, enter it (2FA confirmation when changing permissions).
- The new company appears in the table, but does not become your active company. To work in it, click Activate in its row. The My companies tab in account settings does the same thing (My companies — active company and switching context).
- Check that the top-right corner shows the new company, then configure it in the order below.
Who can do this?
You need the Roles and permissions permission with create access, plus 2FA confirmation. You do not need a superadministrator account. Anyone who manages roles can create companies (Module permissions — read, write, and create).
What is required?
Three fields: full name, short name, and symbol. Fill in the remaining details later (Company details — profile, identifiers, bank, compliance, and logo).
The new company is linked to the person who created it, but is inactive for them. This avoids switching someone to a new, empty context in the middle of their work. Switch to it when you are ready (My companies — active company and switching context).
Recommended setup order
The configuration status checklist has six levels. A sensible order is:
- Company details — identifiers, address, bank accounts, logo (Company details — profile, identifiers, bank, compliance, and logo).
- Languages (Company languages — three rules worth knowing).
- Branches and warehouses (Companies, branches, and warehouses — structure).
- Roles — before inviting people (Creating and editing a role — the two-tab window).
- Users (Adding a user — create an account or add an existing one).
- Integrations (Integrations — branch map and where to start).
- Documents — types and numbering.
Deleting a company
A company with any dependent data cannot be deleted; the operation is refused with a conflict message. This protects against erasing history with one click.
In practice, you cannot delete a company that has been used. You can remove an unused company before it has accumulated any data.
