Basket or shelf — the order type decides
Single-item orders go into a basket; multi-item orders gather on their own shelf. The reverse is not allowed.
The system identifies the mode when you scan the EAN — you do not choose it yourself.
| Order contents | Mode | Destination |
|---|---|---|
| 1 product × 1 unit, not a kit | Single | basket (mobile container) |
| Anything else — 2 or more units, 2 or more line items, or any kit | Multi | sorting shelf |
The reason is practical: many one-unit orders can travel together in one basket, while a multi-item order needs a place to gather until it is complete — its own shelf.
The same rule governs packing. There is one source of truth for the whole process, so an order behaves the same way in sorting and packing.
The reverse combinations are firmly rejected. A single order on a shelf is refused. A multi-item order in a basket is refused.
Step by step
- Stand at the sorting area. Open the
/wms2kiosk and the Sorting module. If you are elsewhere, tap the mode name in the header and choose Sorting in the Change function window. - The banner must say Scan product EAN. If it says NOT A SORTING LOCATION, first scan the sorting-shelf code; the banner will reply LOCATION CHANGED.
- Scan the EAN of the product in your hand.
- Read the mode. The system chose it and shows it in three places:
- banner: SINGLE → TO BASKET or MULTI → TO SHELF;
- card heading: Single-item order or Multi-item order;
- badge on the right of the card heading:
SINGLEorMULTI.
- Look at the top-right tile. Its label is To basket (SINGLE) or To shelf (MULTI). If it shows a code, that is the destination. If it says scan basket / choose shelf, no destination is set and you must choose one.
- MULTI with a suggested code: go to that shelf; earlier units from the order are already there. The Also place on this shelf card lists up to five other items that can go to the same destination.
- SINGLE: scan any free basket. After a successful placement, the kiosk remembers it as the Default basket (SINGLE), so later single orders need only one product scan, without scanning the basket.
- Scan the location code. A green SORTED TO BASKET / SORTED TO SHELF banner, with the code and product name, confirms the placement.
- If you chose the wrong destination type, one of these refusals appears: SINGLE must go to a basket — this is a shelf. or MULTI must go to a shelf — this is a basket. Scan the correct type of location; the product is still in your hand.
Suggested location
| Mode | What the system suggests |
|---|---|
| Multi | The shelf where sorted units from this order already are; if there is none, nothing is suggested and you open a new shelf |
| Single | Nothing — you choose the basket, and the interface remembers it afterward |
Mobile locations and trolley shelves are excluded from suggestions.
The system does not trust the value sent by the screen
The mode is calculated again for every destination check and when the operation is carried out, against the locked queue item. Any value sent by the interface is overwritten. This prevents an interface error from putting goods in the wrong place.
