Creating locations — individually, in batches, or as carts
Three modes. Sequences and carts generate codes from a pattern containing {n}, up to 2,000 at a time; a code conflict rolls back the entire batch.
The add dialog has three modes: one item (Single), a sequence (Sequence), and a cart (Cart + shelves).
Step by step
Locations are under Configuration → Settings → Warehouse → Locations. The add button is + in the list bar — there is no text label; hover to see “Add location.” It opens the Add location drawer with a mode switch: Single, Sequence, Cart + shelves.
One location
- On the Locations list, press +.
- Keep Single selected.
- Fill in Code. Position is optional — blank means 0.
- Set Type, Zone, Warehouse, and Access type. Without all four, saving shows Fill in all required fields.
- If needed, set Capacity profile, Subtype, and the Active and Needs checking toggles.
- Press Add.
A sequence of codes
- On the Locations list, press + and switch to Sequence.
- In Template, enter a pattern with
{n}where the number goes, for exampleR01-{n}. - Set From, To, Step, and Leading zeros (defaults: 1 / 10 / 1 / 2).
- Fill in fields shared by the whole batch: Type, Zone, Warehouse, Access type.
- Check the preview — it shows Locations to be created: N and the first and last five codes. Those are exactly the codes that will be created.
- Press Create N locations.
A cart with shelves
- On the Locations list, press + and switch to Cart + shelves.
- Enter the Cart code. If the code contains
{n}, a sequence of carts will be created — also set From, To, and Leading zeros. - Enter the Number of shelves (default 4) and Shelf suffix (default
-PW-{n}); the suffix must contain{n}. - Set the Shelf capacity profile. Shelves do not inherit the cart profile — enter that separately under Cart capacity profile.
- Fill in Zone, Warehouse, and Access type. Cart type and Shelf type are preset and locked (“Carts are always type CART,” “Shelves are always type CART_SHELF”) — there is no need to change them.
- Check the preview: up to three carts with their shelves expanded, then “+N more.”
- Press Create N locations.
Import from a file
- Prepare a
.csv,.xlsx, or.xlsfile with the headerCode,LP,Zone,Type,AccessType. The easiest way to get a template is to export — the Export icon in the list bar downloadsLocations.csvwith the same columns. - Go to Configuration → Settings → Warehouse → Locations.
- If the import should create new locations, enable Add locations in the filter row (hint: Applies to the next CSV import). If disabled, the import only updates existing locations.
- Press Import in the list bar and select the file.
- Read the message shown after upload — the list refreshes automatically.
The Add locations toggle resets to off after every import. Turn it on again for the next file.
Single — one location
Fields: Code, Position, Type, Zone, Warehouse, Access type, Capacity profile, Subtype, Active, Needs checking.
Sequence — a series of codes
Fields: Template, From, To, Step, Leading zeros (defaults: 1 / 10 / 1 / 2).
The template must contain {n} — otherwise you get Template must contain {n}. For example, R01-{n} with two leading zeros gives R01-01, R01-02, …
The live preview shows the first five and last five codes.
Cart + shelves
Fields: Cart code, From, To, Leading zeros, Number of shelves (default 4), Shelf suffix (default -PW-{n}), Shelf type, Shelf capacity profile.
The cart code itself can contain {n} — this creates a series of carts, each with its own set of shelves. The preview shows up to three carts with expanded shelves and “+N more.”
Shelves do not inherit the cart’s capacity profile. Set it separately.
A cart with no shelves (0) is valid — it is a single-compartment cart.
Limits and errors
- Maximum 2,000 locations per operation: Too many locations (max 2000).
- Invalid range — the From/To range is invalid.
- Cart code is required, Invalid cart range, Shelf suffix must contain {n}.
- Please fill all required fields — type, zone, warehouse, access type, or shelf type is missing.
All or nothing
Saving runs in one transaction. Any conflict rolls back everything — no locations are created. The response shows two lists:
- conflicts — codes that already exist in this warehouse,
- duplicates in batch — codes repeated within the submitted set.
Codes are trimmed of whitespace so that ' WZ-1' will not exist beside 'WZ-1' as a separate shelf.
Positions
Top-level items get position 0. Children get consecutive numbers among siblings, so cart shelves are ordered naturally as PW-1, PW-2, …
Import from a file
A separate route: CSV/XLSX file with the header Code,LP,Zone,Type,AccessType; the separator ; or , is detected automatically. The Add locations toggle (Applies to the next CSV import) determines whether the import can create new locations or only update existing ones.
Export uses the same column layout and downloads Locations.csv.
