Location types — six switches, not a closed list
A type is a record created by the company. Its flags define picking, sorting, packing, mobile use, returns station, and transfer use.
A location type is not selected from a closed list. It is a record the company creates and names itself. Its flags define what it means.
Step by step
Check the type of a location
- Go to Configuration → Settings → Warehouse → Locations.
- Enter a code in Search... or narrow the list with the Type filter (it can accept several values at once).
- Read the Type column.
To see what a type means, go to the Location types tab. Its columns are #, Type, Description, Sorting, Packing, and Picking; the last three show a check or cross.
Create a location type
- Go to Settings → Warehouse → Location types.
- Press + in the list bar — there is no text label; hover to see “Add type.”
- The drawer is titled Add Type and its fields are in English. Fill in Type (a name such as
RETURN_STATION) and Description. Both are required. - Set the three toggles: Sort, Pack, and Pick.
- Press Add.
The list refreshes automatically. The new type immediately appears in the Type field when you create a location — Creating locations — individually, in batches, or as carts.
Set flags that are not in the dialog
There are no toggles for Mobile, returns station, or transfer in this dialog. Contact NOXTI support if you need to change those settings.
Delete a type
- Press the trash icon in its row.
- In Confirm deletion, read Are you sure you want to delete location type {type}? and press Delete.
A type used by even one location will not be removed: the server responds Cannot be removed, is used in the location, but the screen does not display it — the Confirm deletion dialog stays open, and the list does not change. Close it with Cancel, reassign those locations to another type (Bulk actions → Change type, Location list — filters, bulk actions, and contents preview), and try again.
Six flags
| Flag | Meaning |
|---|---|
| For picking | Pickers can pick from it. Enabled by default |
| For sorting | Place where picked goods are sorted |
| For packing | Packing station |
| Mobile (cart / basket) | Container that moves around the warehouse |
| Returns station | Destination for a basket from the returns dock |
| Transfer | The only permitted destination for a movement between warehouses |
NOXTI support configures the Mobile, returns station, and transfer flags. The type editor provides the other toggles, including picking.
System types
Do not change the names of automatically created types. They are used for carts, returns stations, and imports. Contact NOXTI support if there is a problem.
Temporary location
A location is temporary if it is assigned to a worker or has the mobile, sorting, or packing flag. This has a practical difference: a zero-stock record disappears from a temporary location because a product does not have a permanent place there. On a regular picking shelf, a zero-stock record remains — it marks the slot and says “this product belongs here, it is just out of stock now.”
What is not available
There is no “quarantine” or “buffer” type, and no separate “goods receipt” type. Goods receipt records items at any scanned location. Zone levels — golden, mid, reserve — serve as the buffer role.
Types are protected
A type used by even one location cannot be deleted: Cannot be removed, is used in the location. The same applies to a zone and access type; capacity profiles and subtypes also check queues and scenarios.
