Zones, access types, capacity profiles, and subtypes
A zone groups an area and carries a golden/mid/reserve level. An access type says whether an item can be reached by hand — and overrides the zone when both have a level.
Step by step
All four directories are together in Configuration → Settings → Warehouse, in the Zones, Access methods, Capacity profiles, and Location subtypes tabs. Each tab looks the same: a list, a Search... field, a + button in the bar (no label; hover to see its name), and pencil and trash icons in every row.
Create a capacity profile
- Go to Settings → Warehouse → Capacity profiles.
- Press + (tooltip: “Add capacity profile”).
- In the Add capacity profile drawer, fill in Name — the only required field.
- Enter whichever limits should apply: Max. height (mm), Max. width (mm), Max. length (mm), Max. weight (kg). An empty field means “no limit” and is ignored when checking whether goods fit.
- Optionally enable Soft matching for flat goods (experimental) — see below. It is disabled by default.
- Press Add.
The list shows a row with Effective volume (m³), calculated from the three dimensions, or — if any are missing. A duplicate name in the company gives A capacity profile with this name already exists; other failures show Could not save capacity profile.
Assign the profile to many shelves at once: select them in the locations list and choose Bulk actions → Change capacity profile — Location list — filters, bulk actions, and contents preview.
Create a subtype
- Go to Settings → Warehouse → Location subtypes, then press + (tooltip: “Add subtype”).
- Enter a Name, such as
Small. - Enter an order number in Position — the list sorts by it, so you can put sizes from smallest to largest instead of alphabetically.
- Leave Active turned on.
- Press Add.
Duplicate name: A subtype with this name already exists.
Create an access type
- Go to Settings → Warehouse → Access methods, then press + (tooltip: “Add access type”).
- The drawer is titled Add access type and has English fields. Enter a name in Access Type.
- Set Human available (whether it can be reached by hand) and Restricted area.
- Press Add.
The list shows Name, Human access, and Restricted area columns, with a check or cross.
Create a zone
- Go to Settings → Warehouse → Zones, then press + (tooltip: “Add zone”).
- The Add Zone drawer has two English fields: Code and Description. Both are required.
- Press Add.
The new zone appears in the list and Zone filter only after it is assigned to a warehouse. The form has no warehouse field — ask NOXTI support to assign the zone.
Delete an entry from a directory
- Press the trash icon in the row.
- In Confirm deletion, read the prompt — Are you sure you want to delete zone {code}?, Are you sure you want to delete access type name?, Are you sure you want to delete capacity profile {name}?, or Are you sure you want to delete subtype {name}?
- Press Delete.
Refusals differ by tab:
- Capacity profiles and Location subtypes tell you directly: Cannot delete a capacity profile assigned to a location / Cannot delete a subtype assigned to a location.
- Zones and Access methods do not: if even one location uses the directory entry, the server rejects the request with Cannot be removed, is used in the location, but the Confirm deletion dialog simply remains open and nothing changes. Close it with Cancel, reassign the locations to another zone or access type, and try again — Location list — filters, bulk actions, and contents preview.
Golden / mid / reserve level
You cannot set a level in the application. Zones and access types without a level are ignored in replenishment recommendations. Contact NOXTI support to configure levels.
Zone
Groups a warehouse area and carries a level:
- golden — fastest picking locations,
- mid — middle,
- reserve — backup stock.
Replenishment uses the level to decide where a product “should” be stored: class A → golden, B → mid, C → reserve. A zone without a level is ignored in recommendations — there is no way to determine whether the product is in the right place.
A zone belongs to a warehouse, not directly to the company.
Access type
Describes how to reach the goods:
- Human available — whether they can be reached by hand, without equipment.
- Restricted area — an area with limited access.
- Level — the same golden / mid / reserve set.
When a location has a level from both its zone and its access type, the access type wins. This is practical: how high a shelf is has more impact on picking cost than which aisle the rack is in.
The replenishment panel has a separate Class outside human-reachable zone tile — the number of class A units outside arm’s reach.
Capacity profile
A named set of limits: maximum height, width, and length (in millimetres), weight (in kilograms), and optional usable volume, entered manually.
Volume is calculated in this order: manually entered value → product of the three dimensions → none.
There are no “dimensions for this specific shelf” fields. A location with unusual capacity gets its own, one-off profile. This is deliberate: a profile can be assigned to hundreds of shelves and changed in one place.
Profile names are unique within a company.
Soft matching for flat goods (experimental)
The fit check also looks at each product separately: if any side is longer than the shelf (after rotation), the whole set is “too large.” This is too strict for a folded towel or pillowcase — one side is longer than the shelf, but the item takes up only a few percent of its volume. The order is then assigned to an oversized cart instead of a small one.
The Soft matching for flat goods toggle skips the dimensions check, but only when all three conditions are met:
- every oversized item in the set is thin — its thinnest side is ≤ Max. thickness (50 mm by default); one rigid box in the order closes this exception,
- the whole set fits within Max. volume share (20% of usable volume by default),
- the whole set fits within Max. weight share (20% of the weight limit by default).
If the weight of any product is unknown, this exception is also closed — the total weight could be understated.
The exception applies only to the dimensions check. Exceeding the volume or weight limit still disqualifies the set.
Experimental. Thickness is an approximation of the “foldable” property. Ultimately, a product should have its own “foldable” flag. Enable this deliberately on one profile and check how transferred orders behave on the cart.
The setting applies wherever order size is checked — when creating a queue and when topping it up (Why an order was not added to the queue).
Subtype
A company-defined container size label: Small, Medium, Large, Basket. It deliberately has no dimensions — it is not a capacity profile.
It is used for one thing: matching a scanned cart to queues that accept it (Carts, baskets, and worker locations).
Subtypes have their own display order (Position) so sizes can appear from smallest to largest instead of alphabetically.
