No stock on the shelf during replenishment
Two options: report a shortage or request a count. A reported shortage flags the shelf for checking and stops the same task from being retried.
You go to collect goods and the shelf is empty. The terminal gives you two options. Both leave a record, and neither requires finding a supervisor. Both start with the same button.
Step by step — report a shortage
- Stay on the task for the empty shelf. The terminal should show Pick N units and the source shelf code.
- Press Out of stock?
- The Empty shelf — report a shortage? window opens. Check the product name and shelf code below the title.
- Read the note: The shelf will be flagged for checking and temporarily excluded as a replenishment source. This is not just a warning; the shelf is removed from the pool of sources.
- Add details in Note (optional) if needed.
- Press the red Report shortage button. Cancel closes the window without changes.
- The terminal confirms: Shortage reported — shelf needs checking.
- If you already picked some units, it asks Put N units back on shelf SHELF. Do so; the cart should not contain goods without a task.
- Continue scanning. The terminal returns to Scan a task or source shelf.
Sessions with shortages have their own count on the session list (Sessions with shortages) and are not automatically archived.
Step by step — request a count instead
Same path, different button. Use it when the goods are there, but in a different quantity from what the screen says.
- Press Out of stock? as above.
- In Empty shelf — report a shortage?, press the orange Request count instead button above Cancel / Report shortage.
- Confirmation says Shelf flagged for checking, and the current task is cancelled.
- The terminal returns to Scan a task or source shelf.
Refusals:
- Put away or finish the units on your cart first — you are carrying units from this task. Put them away or finish the task with Finish with N, then try again.
- Could not flag shelf for checking — any other failure; the error details appear below.
This button does not start a stocktake. It only flags the shelf for checking. Whether a count follows depends on a rule the administrator enables separately (The “Needs checking” flag — a freeze, not a note). Do not wait for a stocktake task number; there will not be one.
Choose shortage when there is physically nothing there; choose request count when you do not know the quantity. If goods are there but the amount differs from the screen, use the second option.
Partial completion
Finish with N closes the task with the quantity actually moved. The remainder does not stay as unfinished work. The button appears only if the company allows partial picks.
Shelf under stocktake
If the location is being counted, the terminal refuses:
Location CODE is under stocktake — it cannot be used for replenishment right now. Finish the count or choose another task.
This applies to both source and destination locations. It is not a fault: two processes counting the same stock at once would produce an unreliable result.
