Replenishment — what it is and how it works
Move goods from reserve shelves to picking shelves so picking does not stop at an empty location. Three concepts: task, session, route.
A picker reaches for a product and finds an empty shelf. The stock exists — just not where they are looking. Replenishment closes this gap by moving units from reserve locations to picking locations before picking is blocked.
Step by step
Supervisor: create replenishment work
- Go to Warehouse and logistics → Replenishment → Panel.
- Click Scan warehouse. In the Scan warehouse window, choose source and destination zones, or use the company defaults.
- The scan does not create anything yet. Its result appears in Scan suggestions (N) with the note they will not enter the database until you accept them.
- Select the rows you want and click Accept selected (N). Only then are tasks created.
- If the scan finds nothing, the panel explains why. Products do not have an ABC class yet and Locations do not have ABC zones have buttons leading directly to the relevant settings tab. No suggestions for these filters means there is nothing to move; change zones or choose destination zones.
- To create one ad-hoc move, open Task list, expand More, and choose Add task manually.
- To gather scattered units, open Consolidation, choose filters, click Search, select candidates, set a Destination location (or select Scan location when putting away), then click Consolidate selected (N).
- To assign a batch of tasks to specific people, use New session on the Task list card or Replenishment → Sessions, then Assign workers.
Operator: take your tasks
- On WMS2 Terminal, choose Replenishment.
- The Sessions screen shows sessions assigned to you. The Tasks bar above them contains your unsessioned tasks — ad hoc tasks from a supervisor and anything you are already carrying on a cart.
- If the company has enabled batch picking, press Start route (N). The terminal gives you the next set of tasks in route order. You can tell it worked because the subtitle changes to Route · picking; there is no separate message.
- The banner says Scan a task or source shelf. Scan the shelf, then the product. The terminal confirms Picked {n} units.
- When you have collected the goods, press Put away to shelves (N). The banner changes to Scan destination shelf. After put-away, you see Put away {n} units.
- You do not set the status manually. New, In progress, and Completed follow the numbers picked and put away.
- To move goods without a task, choose I’ll take it myself → scan the source shelf → scan the product → Put away to shelves. While carrying those units, you cannot enter a session.
Three terms, in order
Task — one move: product, quantity, source shelf, destination shelf. Its number looks like REPL-12-000431. Statuses: New, In progress, Completed, Cancelled, Stale.
Session — a named batch of tasks assigned to specific people. Its number looks like REPLSESS-12-17. Statuses: Scheduled, In progress, Completed, Cancelled. Archiving is separate from status: a completed session with no shortages archives automatically; one with a shortage waits for someone to close it manually.
Route — a batch of session tasks that an operator collects in one trip through the warehouse. A route is not saved as a separate object; it is how tasks are issued to the terminal.
Where to find it
Sidebar Warehouse and logistics → Replenishment:
- Panel — supervisor workspace: warehouse condition, movement recommendations, consolidation, task creation, and decision history.
- Sessions — task batches, assignments, and archive.
Operators work on the WMS2 terminal in Replenishment mode. The older WMS terminal also has this mode.
Task status is calculated automatically
There is no “set to In progress” button. Status follows the unit counters: New until at least one unit is picked; In progress from the first picked unit; Completed when all planned units are put away. This keeps the status consistent with what the operator is actually carrying.
Where tasks come from
A session remembers its source — manual creation, a recommendation scan, consolidation, or a schedule — but no screen displays it. To find out who created a session, you only have its creation date and author. See Where replenishment tasks come from.
