Who gets which queue
Operators do not choose a queue — the system assigns it. And, contrary to intuition, two people can work on the same one.
There is no queue-selection screen on the terminal. At every action, the system determines which queues are currently available to you.
Step by step
The terminal says there is no work (operator)
- First check the warehouse. Press F6, or expand the lower bar with More buttons and tap Settings.
- The Interface settings drawer opens. Its first row is Warehouse, showing the active warehouse. Tap it.
- The Select warehouse dialog appears with your warehouses; the active one is highlighted. Select the right one — the kiosk switches without reloading the page.
- Do you see No available warehouses instead of a list? Without a warehouse you will not get any queue — tell your shift lead; this is not a terminal fault.
- If switching fails and the Put items away dialog says “You are carrying items. Put them away (drop them at a location) before changing warehouses — otherwise they will remain in the old warehouse,” drop the items first, then switch.
- If the warehouse is correct but Picking still shows nothing, this is an assignment issue. Sorting and packing do not use assignments, so if there is work there but not in picking, your assigned queue is new and has no orders yet — wait for them to arrive.
Check and change assignments (shift lead)
- Open a queue from the list and go to the Workers tab.
- The Assigned Workers card lists assigned operators. An empty list means the queue is in the public pool — every unassigned operator in this warehouse can see it.
- To add someone: Add Worker → Select workers field (the list automatically omits people already assigned) → Add N Worker(s) button.
- To remove someone: the red trash icon in their row. It works immediately, without asking for confirmation.
- Remember the side effect: adding even one person removes the queue from the public pool and takes it away from everyone else in the warehouse.
- A disabled queue has no assigned workers. Disabling it — manually or overnight when all work is finished — removes everyone automatically. You cannot assign anyone to a disabled queue.
- The effect is not immediate. The available-queues list is cached for 30 seconds, and the terminal refreshes it every half-minute anyway.
The first condition: warehouse
If you have no active warehouse assignment, you get no queue at all. Not some queues, not a default: zero. This is the most common reason for “the terminal says there is no work” when there is plenty of work.
Sorting, moving, and packing
You see all active queues in your warehouse that have work at that stage. There is no filtering by assignment — everyone sorting sees every sorting area, and everyone packing sees every packing task.
The list refreshes every half-minute, so a queue that has just received work may appear with a slight delay.
Picking
Assignments decide what appears here:
- You have assigned queues — you see only those, plus queues whose items you are physically carrying and queues for your cart. An assigned queue where everything has already been picked does not hide the rest — you get work from whichever assigned queue still has work. When all assigned queues have been picked, you get work from the public pool. If a top-up arrives in your queue, you return to it automatically. A new assigned queue with no orders yet still keeps you assigned to it.
- You have no assigned queues — you see the public pool: active warehouse queues with no workers assigned at all and something left to pick.
A queue with one assigned worker disappears from the public pool for everyone else. Assigning one person therefore also removes that queue from the rest of the warehouse.
Two people on one queue
Yes, this is normal — except for carts. During regular picking, sorting, and packing, a queue does not belong to anyone. A lock on an individual unit, not on the queue, prevents duplicate work:
- sorting and packing — a unit taken by one person is skipped for the other, without waiting or an error,
- packing also has a soft lock: the first EAN scan changes the unit to “In progress,”
- picking has no lock at all — a unit is simply completed when its quantity reaches zero.
The only case in which a queue really belongs to one person is a reserved cart.
