What a queue is and what it contains
A queue does not hold orders, only order lines and individual units across three stages. It has no status — only an Active toggle.
A queue is a container for work in one warehouse. It does not contain orders by itself — it contains configuration: filters, a picking scenario, a fulfilment profile, and a drop-off location.
Orders enter it split into smaller units, across three levels:
| Level | What it is | Number of units |
|---|---|---|
| Queue | container + settings | 1 |
| Item | one order line in this queue | as many as there are lines |
| Unit | one physical unit at one stage | line × quantity × 3 |
The last row is the surprising one. A line with a quantity of 3 creates nine records: three to pick, three to sort, and three to pack. That is why the item count in a queue never matches the number of orders — “number of orders” is always calculated separately as the number of distinct orders among the items.
Step by step — check what is in a queue
- Open the queue list (Queue) and click
#numberor the name. - The header shows Queue #number, with four tiles below: Total Products, Collected, Pending, and a Remaining: N items badge broken down as
P:… S:… K:…— picking, sorting, packing respectively. - The Products tab shows items, not units. One row is one order line in this queue, even if its quantity is 3.
- The columns follow the stages: Pick Location → Collected → In Sorting → Sort Location → Pack Location → Packed. Use them to see where a particular line is stuck.
- The Type column says whether it is Single or Multi. A bundle also gets an orange Bundle badge, and the Product column then shows the component’s name and EAN, not the bundle — hover to see the bundle name.
- If you need the number of orders, not items, return to the queue list. The Locations column shows a number beside a box icon, labelled Orders. That number answers “how many orders,” not the row count on the Products tab.
- Do not look for a queue status — there isn’t one. The Settings tab contains only the Queue active / Queue inactive toggle and the Queue priority field with five levels (Queue priority — where it comes from and how it affects cart assignment). Everything else is calculated in real time.
A bundle is not one item
An order containing a bundle enters the queue split into components — one item for each bundle component. The warehouse picks real products from shelves, not an abstraction.
A queue has no status
This is the most common misunderstanding. There is no “status” field in a queue. It has only:
- Active — yes or no,
- Priority — one of five levels.
Everything else shown in the queue list — progress, “remaining,” “completed” — is calculated in real time from units and is not stored in the queue.
Only units have statuses: To do, In progress, Completed. And they do not work the same way at every stage:
- picking — moves directly from “To do” to “Completed”; it is never “In progress,”
- sorting — the same, with no intermediate state,
- packing — the only stage with a full cycle: “In progress” appears at the first EAN scan and returns to “To do” if packing is abandoned.
SINGLE and MULTI
When added, each item receives an order-type label:
- SINGLE — the order has exactly one line, one unit, and no bundle,
- MULTI — everything else.
This distinction is not cosmetic: auto-sorting queues have strict restrictions on mixing SINGLE and MULTI, and carts handle them differently.
Queues that are not visible in the list
By default, the queue list shows only queues for the active warehouse. Change the active warehouse and the list follows it.
- Beside the Active button there is a button showing the warehouse name.
- Click it. All warehouses shows queues from every warehouse in the company.
- Select several warehouses if you want to see only those.
The list remembers this choice, including after you log out. The selection expires after 5 days without visiting the list. The button disappears when the company has only one warehouse.
