The three queue types and how they differ
Type is not a field on the queue — it is determined by the fulfilment profile: Standard, Auto-sort, and Pick from Cart.
A queue has no “type” field. What you see in the list as its type is read from the fulfilment profile attached to the queue. The profile sets a mode separately for each stage: picking, sorting, moving, and packing.
| Type | What the operator does |
|---|---|
| Standard | Picks from shelves, sorts manually by scanning EANs, moves items to a packing station, and packs with a label. |
| Auto-sort | Picks from shelves. After dropping items into a basket, the system assigns sorting automatically. Then items are moved and packed. |
| Pick from Cart | Picks directly onto a cart with shelves. Sorting and moving are skipped — the process goes straight to packing. |
Without an attached profile, the queue behaves as Standard.
Step by step
Read the queue type
- Open the queue list and find the Type column.
- The badge says Standard (walking-person icon), Auto-sort (robot), or Pick from Cart (cart). The fulfilment profile name appears below it in gray.
- Hover over the badge. The tooltip describes the type and its four modes: Picking:, Sorting:, Move:, Packing: — for example Pick to cart, Skipped, Move to station, EAN scan → label → tracking.
- The column shows
—instead of a badge if the queue has no attached profile. This is not an error — the queue works as Standard. - Type is calculated, not stored: picking to a cart takes precedence over auto-sort, and everything else is Standard. That is why two different profiles can show the same badge; only the tooltip distinguishes them.
- For a queue in Pick from Cart mode that someone is currently using, a small green badge with the cart code appears; its tooltip shows Picking cart: and Operator:.
Change the queue type
- Enter the queue → Settings tab → Picking configuration card.
- Expand Fulfilment profile (the list shows only active profiles) and choose another.
- Check the field below — its name changes with the selected profile: Default sorting location (standard), Default sorting basket (auto-sort), or Default drop-off location (Pick from Cart).
- Click Save settings.
- Leaving Fulfilment profile empty is allowed — the queue returns to standard behaviour.
View and edit the profile itself
- Go to Settings → Warehouse section → Order fulfilment flow tab.
- Stay on the Fulfilment profiles tab. The table has columns Name, Picking mode, Sorting mode, Moving mode, Packing mode, Template, Active, Pipeline, and Actions.
- The modes in the table are shown in English, directly from the server — for example
Person — products carried on WORKER_X,Standard — manual EAN-by-EAN sorting,Auto Sort — automatic sorting on basket drop,Skip — no sorting (auto-complete sort QPIs). - The Pipeline column shows either Pipeline valid (green) or Pipeline invalid (red) — a quick answer to whether the combination of modes works at all.
- Create a profile with the blue + button above the table (hover hint: New profile); edit an existing profile with the pencil icon in the Actions column.
- Set four fields in the dialog: Picking mode, Sorting mode, Moving mode, Packing mode. You can also start with a preset — Load from template fills in all four from the selected template.
- If the server rejects a save, a red bar shows Failed to save profile without explaining why. Check the Pipeline column on a similar working profile and compare the modes.
- You cannot create a Pick from Cart profile with this form — the consistency check rejects every such combination. Cart profiles are set up outside this screen.
Combinations that are not allowed
Pick from Cart requires two things, otherwise the profile will not save:
- sorting must be set to skipped,
- moving must be set to skipped.
This is a requirement, not a recommendation: sorting happens on the cart during picking, so there is nothing to sort a second time.
A Pick from Cart queue also needs a default drop-off location — the cart is dropped there. Note: this rule is enforced at the model and admin-panel level, not when a queue is saved through the regular form. A queue without a drop-off location can be saved and will fail only when the cart is dropped.
An operator does not mix modes
An employee will never receive a standard queue and a cart queue at the same time. If they are already carrying something, they see only queues with an identical set of modes. If they are carrying nothing, the system chooses one group of modes and shows only that group.
