The four fulfillment phases
Picking, sorting, transport, and packing—each has its own mode, set by the queue profile.
Every WMS queue has a fulfillment profile describing four independent phases and the mode used in each one.
| Phase | Available modes |
|---|---|
| Picking | manual—the operator carries the goods · to cart—puts them directly on a cart shelf |
| Sorting | standard—manual, EAN by EAN · automatic—when a basket is unloaded · skipped |
| Transport to packing | standard—basket or shelf goes to the station · skipped |
| Packing | standard—scan EAN, label, tracking · internal—no label or carrier; after the goods are put away, the order automatically moves to the selected status |
In the interface, the third phase is not called “transport” but Move mode. Look for that name, not “transport.”
Step by step
Check which profile the queue uses
- Open the WMS queue list.
- Find the Type column. It contains a colored marker—Standard, Auto-sort, or Pick from Cart—with the assigned profile name in small text below it.
- Hover over the marker. The tooltip lists all four phases, one per row: Picking:, Sorting:, Move:, Packing:. The row headings are in English and the values in Polish.
- Read the values: for picking, Manual picking or Cart picking; for sorting, Manual sorting (EAN), Automatic sorting, or Skipped; for moving, Move to station or Skipped; for packing, Scan EAN → label → tracking.
- Above the phase rows, the tooltip also describes the overall type. For a cart, it says Worker picks products directly onto a cart with shelves (inline sort). Sorting and moving skipped—proceed directly to packing.
Create or edit a fulfillment profile
- Go to Settings → Warehouse → Order fulfillment flow.
- Stay on the Fulfillment profiles tab. The second tab, Automatic creation, is empty—it displays only “Automatic creation — coming soon.”
- The table has Name, Picking mode, Sorting mode, Move mode, Packing mode, Template, Active, Pipeline, and the untranslated Actions columns. Search for a profile name in the field with the magnifying glass; its tooltip says Name.
- To create a profile, use the round + button to the right of search (tooltip: New profile). To edit one, use the pencil icon in the Actions column.
- In the window, fill in Name, enable Template if needed, and, for a new profile, optionally start from Load from template.
- Set Sorting mode, Move mode, and Packing mode. Options in these lists are in English, directly from the model—for example,
Standard — manual EAN-by-EAN sorting,Auto Sort — automatic sorting on basket drop,Skip — no sorting (auto-complete sort QPIs), andSkip — direct transition to packing. - Picking mode is disabled and cannot be changed here—every profile created in this window uses manual picking. A “to cart” queue is configured elsewhere.
When Packing mode is Internal (no label; order moves to selected status), sorting and moving are automatically skipped, and a Status after packing list appears. Select a status from the same company. A queue with this profile must have a goods destination (pick_destination) configured in the same warehouse and not on an ordinary picking shelf (for example, a pallet or staging zone), or saving the queue will be rejected.
One queue, one destination: all goods in an internal queue are put away at its configured destination. The operator carries them there, scans it, and only then presses Put away. Goods cannot be split between several destinations. Elsewhere, the kiosk shows an inactive “Scan … to put away” button and the system records nothing.
Only one queue at a time; put it away before starting the next—mixing is strictly prohibited: while holding goods from an internal queue, you cannot pick from another queue, and while holding goods from an ordinary queue, you cannot pick from an internal queue. The kiosk offers tasks only from the queue currently being processed. This also applies to the first scan with empty hands: scanning several units takes them from only one internal queue. If it does not have enough, the system refuses and removes nothing from the shelf.
- Save with Save (in English, beside Cancel). A green bar at the top confirms Profile created for a new profile or Profile updated when editing.
- Check the Pipeline column. Pipeline valid means the phases connect properly; Pipeline invalid means they do not.
- To delete a profile, use the trash icon in Actions, then confirm in the Delete profile window by answering Are you sure you want to delete this profile? and pressing Delete. Confirmation: Profile deleted.
Assign a profile to a queue
- Open a queue for editing (or create one).
- Find Fulfillment profile. When empty, it shows Standard (default), with the fixed hint No selection = standard mode below it.
- Select a profile and save the queue.
If saving a profile fails
- The red Failed to save profile bar at the top of the tab is the only information you will get—even if the real reason is an unfinished queue that uses the profile.
- Check whether any queue using the profile still has unfinished packing items. If so, wait until they are completed or create a new profile for a new queue.
- The same red bar appears when the set of modes does not form a consistent flow. After a failed save, compare your settings with a profile marked Pipeline valid in the Pipeline column.
Cart picking requires two phases to be skipped
Choosing cart picking automatically sets sorting and transport to skipped. This is not a restriction but a consequence: the operator sorts on the fly, placing goods directly on the shelf for the right order, and that shelf travels to the station with the cart. Separate sorting and transport phases would have nothing to do.
A skipped phase does not disappear
A phase set to “skipped” still exists—its items are completed automatically so that the final state is identical to the full mode. Later stages therefore work the same way regardless of the profile and do not need to know whether the phase was actually performed.
In practice, if you look for evidence of sorting in a report while the profile skipped sorting, the record is still there; it was completed automatically.
You cannot change the profile mid-process
A profile is locked against editing while its assigned queue has unfinished packing items. This prevents changing the rules in the middle of fulfillment—an order started under one profile finishes under that same profile.
To change the profile, wait until the current orders in the queue are complete, or create a new profile and assign it to a new queue.
Excess — goods no order needs anymore
If someone reduces an order quantity after the goods have already been picked, the extra units remain in the sorting area, in a basket, or at the packing station. This is excess stock. Unloading at a fixed sorting area leaves it there with the rest (excess is not unloaded into a basket, because a basket containing excess would not be freed after packing). When sorting or packing scans such an item, the kiosk says “Excess—no order needs this (N units). Leave it here.” Leave it there.
Put it back on a shelf in Move mode: tap Excess N (visible when you have permission to move goods and there is something to put away), scan a location from the list, then scan the product (enter a quantity if there are several units), press Put away (N), and place it on the shelf suggested by Put away at: or another shelf for that product. The list may be delayed by several dozen seconds. If someone gets there first or an order needs the unit again, the kiosk says “There is no excess here” and refreshes the list—you cannot take someone else’s unit.
