Install the terminal as an app on a handheld

The warehouse terminal runs as an app installed from the browser (PWA). A Noxti Scanner icon appears on the handheld’s Home Screen. Tap it to open the kiosk full-screen, without the address bar or browser tabs. The address bar appears only outside the terminal: on the sign-in screen and after you leave the kiosk for the home screen.

Step by step

Install on a handheld (Android, Chrome)

1. Open the system address in Chrome and sign in as usual.
2. Go to Terminal (address /wms2).
3. Tap the Chrome menu (three dots) → Install app or Add to Home screen.
4. Confirm. The Noxti Scanner icon appears on the Home Screen.
5. From now on, launch the terminal from this icon. Sign-in works as in the browser, with the same account and password.

Press and hold the icon to see shortcuts: Picking, Packing, Replenishment, and Move. Each opens the terminal in that mode. The terminal remembers the mode just as if you had chosen it from a tile.

Install on a phone (iPhone, Safari)

1. Open the system address in Safari and go to Terminal.
2. Tap Share (square with an arrow) → Add to Home Screen.
3. Confirm the name. The icon appears on the Home Screen.

Updates

The app updates automatically. Launching it from the icon (when the terminal was not merely hidden in the background) downloads the current version from the server; you do not need to download or reinstall anything.

If a deployment happens while you are working, the terminal shows “A new version of Noxti is ready” in the top-right corner, with a Refresh button. You can tap it as soon as the current operation is finished, but you do not have to. The terminal loads the new version automatically at the first safe moment:

• when the screen turns off or you hide the app; or
• after 2 minutes without anyone touching the terminal,

and only when no scan or save is in progress and no dialog is open (for example, the quantity keypad). Items in the basket, tasks, and anything you are carrying are saved on the server and return after reload. Only a quantity entered “in advance” on the keypad before scanning a shelf is lost; enter it again.

The message also appears after waking the handheld from sleep. The new version always loads when you launch the terminal from its icon.

The screen is upside down

The Noxti Scanner app keeps the screen upright in portrait orientation, even when the handheld lies flat or you tilt it forward while scanning.

If the screen rotates 180° despite auto-rotate being off, the handheld has an old app installation (from before 22.09.2026). The old version let Android choose between upright portrait and upside-down portrait using the sensor, even with auto-rotate disabled. Chrome applies new settings slowly, so the quickest fix is:

1. Press and hold the Noxti Scanner icon → Remove.
2. Reinstall the app using the steps above.

In a regular Chrome tab, screen orientation follows the phone setting: with auto-rotate off, the screen also stays in portrait. Work from the icon, though — the terminal runs full-screen only there.

Without internet

The app does not work offline and deliberately stores nothing on the device: a shelf state from an hour ago would be worse than a no-network message. See the terminal connectivity article for what happens when the connection drops.

For administrators

• There is no APK file or app-store listing. Install it from the browser on any Chrome device (Zebra, Honeywell, or ordinary phones).
• The hardware scanner works as it does in a browser: keyboard mode (DataWedge “keystroke output”) types the code into the terminal.
• The app does not prevent users from leaving the kiosk. Hard-locking a device to one app (kiosk mode) is configured in MDM or the manufacturer’s Enterprise Home Screen.
• Managers have a separate Noxti Reports app. Install it the same way, from the reports page (/dashboards/wms). Both apps can sit side by side on one phone.
