AI instructions — tailor AI tools to your company
Every AI tool in Noxti has a ready-made instruction. See them all on one screen, edit them, add your own, choose a library variant, switch to a newer version, or restore the default at any time.
Where to find it
Go to Settings → Integrations → AI instructions. This screen lists AI tools, not records: each row is a Noxti function that uses AI (for example, Delivery address verification, Product translation, or Attribute settings analysis) and the instruction that actually runs it. Custom instructions appear directly below the default for their tool.
The upper-right corner has Instruction library and Add custom instruction. Rows are grouped by area: Orders, Products, Catalog, Attributes, Marketplace, AI assistant, and Print. The columns are:
- Tool — its name, a two-line description, where you run it (for example, “Order → Check with AI”), the library variant it came from (“from library: …”), and its model, if one is selected. The In use badge is explained below.
- Last changed — the date and person who saved it. An untouched instruction shows “unchanged · v2” with the default version.
- Status — see below.
- Actions — edit pencil and ⋮ menu.
Search and the All areas and Any status filters are above the list. Filters are part of the page URL, so you can share a filtered link.
Instruction statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Default | Content and settings match the latest version from Noxti. |
| Older version | No one changed it, but Noxti has published a newer default. A link such as Update to v3 appears below the badge. |
| Modified | Someone changed the content, model, response freedom, or maximum response length. |
| Custom | An extra company instruction for this tool. |
| Disabled | The instruction is disabled; this status takes precedence over the others. |
| No default | The tool has no ready-made instruction and works only with custom ones. |
In use — which instruction runs the tool
A tool can have custom instructions alongside its default. When it has more than one, In use marks the one that actually runs. To switch, open the ⋮ menu on another instruction for that tool and choose Set as in use. If none is marked, the tool uses its default.
Three tools let you select an instruction in their own window: AI assistant (the Template list), Extract data from description (the Fill with AI window), and Attribute settings analysis (the AI analysis window). There, “In use” means “selected by default”; you can choose the others in that window.
Newer default versions
Noxti updates default instructions from time to time. Each version has a number (v1, v2, v3…), date, and one-sentence change note. If your company has an older version that nobody has modified:
- A banner appears above the table, for example: “Delivery address verification has a newer default (v3 dated 04.10.2026). No one has changed it.” It offers What changed (comparison) and Update. If several instructions qualify, Update all is available.
- The row shows Older version and Update to v3; its ⋮ menu offers Switch to v3.
- The top of the edit panel shows the new version note with Switch to v3 and Show differences.
Noxti will not overwrite an instruction your company has modified. You can manually take a newer version from version history.
Version history and comparison
The default instruction’s panel has a collapsible Default version history (n) section, newest first. ⋮ → Version history opens the panel with history expanded. Each version shows its date, change note, latest and this company has badges, and these actions:
- Compare with current opens a line-by-line comparison for AI rules and Data prompt: added lines are green, removed lines are red and struck through, and the number of changed lines appears at the top. It compares the text in the form, including unsaved edits. Use vN inserts that version.
- Use this version restores that version, even an older one, including its settings.
- Add as custom opens a new custom instruction with that version’s text.
Above the history, you can see Last changed (date and person) and a badge such as Based on default v2.
Instruction library
The Instruction library contains ready-made Noxti instructions with versions and change dates: the default for each tool and variants for a particular industry or style, such as “Data extraction — fashion”, “Data extraction — electronics”, “Assistant — concise, for warehouse”, “Attribute analysis — B2B catalog”, or “Product translation — formal style”.
At the top are search, Area, and the All / Defaults / Variants / Newer versions (n) switch. Each card shows its version, date, number of versions, What’s new, and—where relevant—the company’s status (for example, “This company has v2 — a newer version is available” or “Your copy … is v1”). Actions:
- Preview — full text of the latest version.
- Add to mine (variant) — creates a custom instruction containing the variant.
- Switch to vN (an older default) — updates the company instruction.
- In use — the company already has the latest version.
AI model — what a blank field means
A banner above the list shows which model instructions without a selected model use, for example OpenRouter · openai/gpt-4o-mini, the company’s default AI integration model. Change in integration opens that integration’s settings.
In the form, blank AI provider means “the company’s AI integration”; blank AI model means “the integration’s default model”. The form shows what will be used below the blank field. Changing the provider clears the model because a model belongs to a provider.
Step by step: change an instruction
- Click a tool row or its pencil. A panel opens on the right.
- The banner at the top explains what the tool does. If it reads the response as JSON, the banner reminds you that the response must remain JSON with the same keys; changing the keys will break the tool.
- AI rules (fixed) — who the AI should be and what it must observe. These stay the same each time.
- Data prompt — text into which the system inserts data at run time in place of brace-delimited fields, for example
{postal_code}. The AI assistant does not have this field; it sends only the rules. - Fields to insert — the fields this tool knows. Hover for a description; click to insert at the cursor. If the text includes an unknown field, a red message below the list says “This tool does not know: …”; the AI receives that field literally, braces included.
- AI model — provider and model (blank means default; see above).
- Advanced — Response freedom (lower is more predictable) and Maximum response length (tokens). Too few tokens can truncate JSON and cause a tool error.
- Click Save. The row changes to Modified and Last changed shows the date and your name.
Try it (delivery address verification)
The Delivery address verification panel has a Try it section. Select an order from the company’s recent orders (search by order number) and click Run. The test uses the instruction exactly as shown in the form, including unsaved edits, and does not save anything to the order. It counts as one AI call.
The result includes a badge (No issues / Issues found: N), model, time and cost, a summary, issues with current and proposed values and a confidence percentage, plus a collapsible Raw AI response. You also need permission to read orders.
Restore the default
The modified tool’s ⋮ menu and the panel footer both have Restore default. After confirmation, the content, model, and settings return to Noxti’s latest version, and the instruction is enabled again. Your changes are lost; to keep them, first choose Make a custom copy or Save to file. Custom instructions for the tool are not affected.
Custom instructions
You can add a custom instruction to any tool that has a default. It appears beside the default, and the tool runs whichever one is marked In use.
- Click Add custom instruction in the upper-right corner.
- For which tool? Choose a tool from the list grouped by area; search is available.
- Where should you start? Choose Copy default instruction (recommended), From library: … (a variant for this tool, with its version), or Blank.
- Click Next to open the panel. Enter a Name (up to 100 characters); the Tool is fixed when you create it. For a tool with one instruction, Use in tool as soon as it is saved is selected by default. Clear it if the instruction should wait in the list; you can later enable it with Set as in use. For tools with a selector (assistant, “Fill with AI”, “AI analysis”), the panel explains where it will be available.
- Edit the text and click Save. The instruction is created only when saved; Cancel leaves nothing behind.
You can also create a custom instruction with Make a custom copy (⋮ menu; named “… — copy”), Add as custom in version history, or Add to mine in the library. You can Delete a custom instruction after confirmation.
Other actions in the ⋮ menu
- Save to file downloads the instruction as a JSON backup.
- Disable / Enable changes the status to Disabled or enables it again.
You cannot import an instruction from a file on this screen.
