How to read the log — the page and field history
Two ways in: the full list with filters, and history for a specific field. The second is usually faster.
Step by step: “who changed this field?”
- Open the record card in question — an order, shipping address, item, or document.
- Hover over the field value. Fields covered by the audit get a dotted underline and show a tooltip with recent changes.
- Click the value. A Field history: <field name> window opens (for an entire section, it is called Change history).
- Filter the view with the All, Created, Updated, and Deleted chips.
- Read the entries: changes show the old and new values. Entries crossed out in red are deleted items; they appear here too.
- If the window is empty or shows an error, you probably lack the Audit Log permission. Field history uses the same permission as the full page (Log retention and access).
Step by step: “what was this person doing yesterday?”
- Go to Configuration → Audit Log. The screen heading is Audit Log.
- Set the date range with Date from and Date to.
- Filter by Action (operation type), Source, and Object ID.
- Read the table columns: Date, Action, User, Model, Object, Source, Changes, IP.
- Click the number in Changes to open Change Details, with Field, Old Value, and New Value columns.
- Click Refresh if you are checking something happening right now.
Two ways in
1. Field history — the faster way
History is attached to the field value itself, not to a separate icon. Hover to see a dotted underline and a tooltip with recent changes; click the value to open the full window.
It is available in places such as the order heading, shipping address, order items, notes, shipments and parcels, documents, and integration settings.
The window has All / Created / Updated / Deleted filters, and entries are grouped by object with color coding: green for creation, blue for a change, and red with strikethrough for deletion.
A useful feature: section history also shows items that have already been deleted. This answers “what was in this order before someone removed it?”
2. Full page
Go to Configuration → Audit Log. The menu item is called Audit Log, as is the page heading. Filters: Action, Source, Object ID, Date from, Date to. Columns: Date, Action, User, Model, Object, Source, Changes, IP. Click the number in Changes to open Change Details, with Field, Old Value, and New Value columns.
This page is in English. Headings and labels are not translated; dates use the Polish format. This is missing interface translation, not a data error.
Where to look
- “Who changed this specific field?” → click the field value. Do not go to the full list.
- “What happened to this order?” → section history on the order card.
- “What was this person doing yesterday?” → the full page with a date filter.
- “Who deleted this item?” → section history; deleted entries are crossed out in red.
If the history is empty
There are three possible causes, in this order:
- This area is not covered by the audit — the most common reason (Change log — what is and is not recorded).
- The change is older than the retention period (Log retention and access).
- The record predates the audit rollout — older objects have empty history, which cannot be reconstructed.
An empty history does not mean “no one changed anything.”
