Prices — screen and price groups
Four tabs, a price group editor, a “where the price comes from” chain, and a warning about deleting a group.
Open the screen from Catalog → Prices. It has four tabs, in this order:
| Tab | Contains |
|---|---|
| Price groups | Price lists: currency, pricing method, catalogs |
| Formulas | Expressions that calculate prices (Price formulas) |
| Workflows | Rules that choose a formula product by product (Price workflows) |
| Product prices | Specific prices: product × price group |
The selected tab is stored in the page URL (#price-groups, #price-formulas, #price-workflows, #product-prices), so a link to a tab opens that exact tab. Old links to a group's detail page (/apps/price-groups/details/…) open that group in the editor.
Groups, formulas, and workflows follow the same layout: a list on the left and an editor on the right. Above the list are search, a + button, and the All / Active / Inactive switch. Click a row to open it in the editor; the open item is also stored in the URL, so you can share a direct link.
Step by step: create a price group
- Go to Catalog → Prices, on the Price groups tab.
- Click + above the list. An empty editor opens on the right, with New price group where the name will go.
- Enter a name in the editor heading; it is required.
- On the Calculation tab, under How the group prices, choose a method: Fixed, Formula, Workflow, or External. Fixed is selected by default.
- For Formula, choose the Group formula; for Workflow, choose the Group workflow. Edit the expression and rules on the Formulas and Workflows tabs; here you only select them.
- On Advanced, check the Code (required, unique within the company; letters, digits, and
_only, because formulas use it in{base_price_CODE}). It is generated from the name (for example, “Wholesale price” →WHOLESALE_PRICE) until you enter your own. Choose a Currency (required). Description is optional. Rounding is set in the formula, not the group. - Click Save in the footer. The button stays inactive until you make a change; Cancel discards changes. The red message below a field disappears once you correct that field.
- After saving, add the group to catalogs on the Catalogs tab (see below).
You cannot change the code after creating the group; formulas refer to the group by code. A currency used by a group cannot later be removed from the system.
Integration price policies are not managed here; they are in the integration settings.
Group editor
The heading shows the name, an Active switch, and links: Product prices (the price table for this group) and Catalog … for every catalog that offers it. The More actions menu contains Recalculate group and Delete price group.
Below the heading are counters for product prices, currency, and catalogs, plus a sentence describing the group, such as “This group prices in EUR using the MARGIN_30 formula. It is in the SHOP catalog.” Bold values are clickable and take you to the field they describe.
The editor tabs are:
| Tab | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Calculation | Pricing method, group formula or workflow, and the “Where the price comes from” chain |
| Catalogs | Catalogs offering the group: add, remove, set the default group |
| Advanced | Code, currency, description (ⓘ beside a label explains the field) |
On the Catalogs tab (available after saving the group):
- + catalog name buttons below the list add the group to an active catalog immediately, without Save. The group is placed after the catalog's other groups (lowest priority); if the catalog has no default group yet, this becomes its default. With many catalogs, a search field appears above the list.
- The star sets the group as default in that catalog (the previous default loses that status).
- × removes the group from the catalog after confirmation. Prices already in the group remain. You cannot detach the default group here; first set another group as default.
Change the order (priority) of groups in a catalog in the catalog itself, on its Prices tab.
Where the price comes from
When a group formula reads another group (for example, {base_price_WHOLESALE} * 1.15), the Where the price comes from section draws a chain from the group where the price starts, through any intermediate groups, to this group. Click a group in the chain to open its editor.
The chain is read from saved formulas; showing it does not recalculate anything. The screen warns you if:
- formulas refer to each other in a loop — the chain ends where a group repeats,
- the chain is longer than 10 groups — only the nearest groups are shown,
- a formula reads a group that does not exist in the company.
Price group
A price group is a named price list in one currency, for example, “EU markets” or “B2B Premium.” A group's code must be unique within the company.
The group sets the default pricing method for its prices:
| Method | Where the price comes from |
|---|---|
| Fixed | Base Price entered or imported for the product |
| Formula | A calculating expression |
| Workflow | Rules that choose a formula based on the product |
| External | An external system (integration) |
An individual price can have its own method. The price table shows that method's description; prices without their own method are marked same as group.
Recalculating a group
Recalculate group (in the editor's More actions menu or above the price table) recalculates every product in the group in the background. It works only for groups using a formula or workflow. A window shows progress; you can close it with Close — recalculation continues, and the calculation will finish in the background.
Simply opening the screen, editor, or chain never recalculates anything.
How a product gets a price in a group
Usually, this happens automatically: assigning a price group to a catalog creates a price row in the background for every product in that catalog. See Price groups in a catalog.
Edit an individual price on the Product prices tab: find the row (search matches name, SKU, and EAN), click Edit, change Base Price or Override Price in the side panel, then save (Which price takes precedence?). Amounts in the table are shown in the group's currency; no price is —, while zero is 0.00.
Deleting a price group is permanent
This is the most dangerous operation on this screen. Deleting a price group also deletes:
- all product prices in that group,
- the entire price change history for that group,
- the group's assignments to catalogs,
- integration price policies based on that group.
There is no trash or undo. The confirmation window tells you how many prices will disappear and reminds you about the history and policies. A group linked to an integration price list cannot be deleted; the system will refuse.
To stop using a group, deactivate it instead of deleting it: turn off Active in the editor heading, then click Save.
