Packing list after packing — print it with a rule
An A4 sheet with the contents of every parcel in an order, including cartons inside cartons. A rule prints it for selected integrations or customers.
A packing list is one A4 page showing each parcel in an order and what is inside it — product name, SKU, EAN, and quantity, with a total per parcel and for the order. When parcels are packed into a master carton, the list shows a tree: carton → parcels inside → their products, indented at each level. Cartons can be nested, so the tree may have several levels.
The system does not print anything by itself. A workflow rule enables printing for selected stores or customers. Without a rule, packing works as before.
Step by step: create a “print packing list” rule
- Open Settings → Workflow and create a rule.
- Trigger:
- Packing completed — prints the list when a packer closes an order.
- Master carton label created — prints the carton list together with its carrier label (Parcels mode, Carrier label button).
- Conditions — choose when it should print:
- Integration — selected stores / sales channels.
- Order customer — selected B2B customers. The list includes partners and customers whose goods ship in master cartons.
- Action: Print document:
- Template source: Specific template → Packing list A4 (or your copy if you edited the template).
- Printer source: Workstation printer.
- Printer slot: Document printer.
- Save and enable the rule. The next time an order is closed at a workstation, the sheet prints on that workstation’s document printer.
What the printout contains
- Header — order number, customer, delivery address, print date, and number of parcels.
- Parcel — box code: master carton
MB-…, multi-packer boxBX-…, or another parcel’s tracking number. After a label is created, a carton keeps itsMB-…code and shows the carrier number beside it. - Another order’s parcel inside a carton — shown with that order’s number. The carton belongs to the customer’s shipping order, while parcels inside it belong to their store orders.
- This order’s parcel inside someone else’s carton — shown with the carton it is packed in.
- Parcel total includes everything inside nested cartons. The grand total appears at the bottom.
Return parcels and boxes from abandoned packing are not listed.
Why nothing printed
- The workstation has no document printer — add one in the workstation settings or choose another slot in the action.
- The packer is not at a workstation — the event has no workstation context, so the action does not know where to print. This especially affects a carton label created from the order page rather than the kiosk. In that case, choose Specific workstation in the action.
- The condition did not match — check the rule’s History to see which condition rejected the order.
- The template is missing from the list — the company copy of the template is disabled; enable it in print templates.
You can edit the template like any other print template, for example to add a logo or column. You edit the company copy; the system template remains unchanged.
